The Diary

This is new, a lot of players, supporters and general football followers don't know what goes on at a sunday morning club and do not realise how hard it is to be a treasurer, secretary or manager for what is basically football for enjoyment. I have thought about doing this for a few years because 99% of people would be surprised at what it takes to run a club at this level. Hopefully i will keep it up and you will find it interesting and perhaps a bit of an eye-opener.

Sunday 18 December 2005

Game against Chaddesley abandoned after 10 minutes. Neither side really wanted to play on conditions that would have made the game a complete farce.

Thursday 15 December 2005

Hit by a bombshell as Jamie Thorpe is charged with improper and insulting behaviour towards an official and banned for 112 days. We don't in any way condone Jamie's misconduct but it does annoy me when you see what goes on in supposed higher leagues on a Saturday. Much worse happens in these leagues and from what i have seen 99% of it goes unpunished. Hopefully Jamie will learn a bit of a lesson from this, he was a permanent fixture in the side and definitely one of the players of the season so far.

Wednesday 14 December 2005

Welcome news as it is confirmed that Shaun Harris is available for Worcester Infirmary cup, thought he may be cup-tied.

Tuesday 13 December 2005

Well miffed as training had to be cancelled due to lack of support. We need to sort this out lads, it is a superb facility and the benefits have been seen this campaign but we can't afford to pay for not training.

Sunday 11 December 2005

Dan Totney and Ross Newman both have knocks, so we are down to 13 players. Lee McDermott comes back into side and Angelo Gualano pushes back to right back.

Feared the worse when game started as Hoolahans (leaders of Redditch div one) did not let us have the ball for the first 20 minutes. Took the lead against run of play with good finish from Lee Mac. Hoolahans got one back in 2nd half but it was quite even from then on. We had a mare with the penalties and lost 3-1.

Pleased with performance. Did not think we would get anything out of it after playing a Redditch Div One side in final of Infirmary Cup last year and getting stuffed. Hoolahans actually beat Hogshead 7-2 the other week and in the 1st round of Hospital Cup beat Norton Sports from division one 6-0.

Nightmare afterwards as Hoolahans said they were coming back to the Clubhouse but didn't. I think everyone just about coped with two portions of sausage and chips - sorry Andy! Anyway Sunday lunch was sorted in the Benbow house.

Sean Harris man of the match, forgot to get the bottle of plonk, will sort it next week.

Change of manager at Cookley so transfer targets are staying put for the moment.

Saturday 10 December 2005

Team news sees Paul Mason working, but Lee McDermott is available after two weeks out with a hairline fracture of the eye socket picked up against Hoobrook Crown.

Tuesday 6  December 2005

League meeting. We did not pick up any fines over the last month. It is now more than three years since we were fined, an indication of how well the club is ran, thanks to everyone one in the club.

Training joined by two transfer targets, who look good.

Sunday 4 December 2005

More bad news as Dan Nash is out with a cold.

Toby O'Brien presented with cut glass tankard before game to mark 100th appearance for club. Made debut on 1 September 2002 in 3-3 draw at Hartlebury Taverners, took over a year to score first goal. Had a few disciplinary problems, who remembers the "handbags" at Moot Meet that cost him a 3 month ban or the slap in the semi against Tenth Lock Harriers. Not wanting to run refs down but the lad from Moot Meet got sent off in both games against us that year, both for violent conduct, but he managed to play every league game for them. Work that out if you can!!!

Shaun Harris makes debut in goal and had not a lot to do in a 2-0 win over Crestwood Star. We did not play as well as we can but 3 points is 3 points. Lee Stuart was chosen as best option to play up front with Griff and did ok after shaky start. Stretch had first start for a while and did well, unlucky with  a couple of efforts.

Joss man of the match, can't remember him missing a header or tackle all game, and he won the penalty with a twinkled toed move that foxed the defender (Something like that anyway)

Dave still after more signings to bolster squad and two watched the game today. Hopefully we can move these into the squad a bit quicker than normal.

Saturday 3 December 2005

The head count comes through from Dave and its not good. "Billy" Mason going shopping, Paul Mason working, Deane Machin and Lee McDermott out injured. That leaves us with John Griffin as the only forward.

Thursday 1 December 2005

After lots of transfer speculation, we finally close one off, as Shaun Harris signs from Bewdley Town. The way "Billy" Mason is playing at the moment, Shaun may have to wait a bit before getting the keeper's gloves.
